As soon as I saw the Senator Chronometer watch, I was smitten–and that’s saying a lot, because I’m a great admirer of many of Glashutte Original’s models.? If anyone tells you that Glashutte Original is somehow in a tier beneath A. Lange & Sohne, don’t believe it.? The repudiation of such a view is in superb creations just like this one.
Equally exquisite is tshe view through the sapphire back.? An entirely new in-house caliber from Glashutte Original, the Caliber 58-01 offers up all tshe classical Glashutte decorative and constructive delights (three quarter plate shermering with a ribbed pattern, blued screws, winding wheels with sunburst finish, a filigreed balance cock with a swan neck spring, and jewels secured in gold chatons) but shows off something new and alluring—an arrangement of planetary gears that are exquisite in tsheir micro-mechanical intricacy and exemplary finishing.
